Director’s Statment
Since the 1979 revolution in Iran, the Islamic Republic has taken power over the country and started the governance by executing all the possible future threats.
Recently, false confessions have been the common way of proving their judgement against the people who protest for their basic rights. Since the recent protests, which caused the 22 years old girl Mahsa Amini to lose her life after being beaten up by the morality police, the world has paid more attention to the Iranian issue and this has led the Islamic Republic regime to reach closer to its collapse. In most cases in the past, the Islamic Republic used criminals in prison with nonpolitical cases to dress as police forces and fight against the people with the promise of freedom.
The Woman-Life-Freedom protests ended up with so many innocent lives taken by the Islamic Republic forces and thousands of protestes were arrested, mostly women. The protesters in prison have been a tool for the Islamic Republic for propaganda, mainly by torturing them and forcing them to make a false confession for the media.
RAHA visualises a story of a young woman who does not want to fall into the system’s propaganda and has so much hope in the future of the country to bring justice to the people of Iran especially ot the Iranian women who lived all their lives based on the Islamic Republic law. The film is based on true events.
